Animation only rendering first frame

Post subject:  Animation only rendering first frame
I have successfully rendered animations in the past, but recently Chaotica will only render the first frame. I'm not sure when this started, but I have noticed it from 2.0.31. The first frame is rendered, but after that it just keeps rendering and does not save frames. After the first render, the status line does not show further progress other than the render time, which just increases, and the progress bar, see image.

I should add that I am using Chaotica (1.0.31) on Apple MacOs Mojave, 10.14.6.

Apologies, that should be 2.0.31. I had the same problem with 2.0.30. I hadn't done any animation in the free prior to this, so I'm not sure at what point it started.

Maybe you're not setting a halt sampling level, in which case the first frame will render forever.

The stopping level was checked. I can force frames to be saved by pressing F5.

Did you try the Render > Render Animation menu command?

Yes, done that. I've done all the stuff that worked in previous animation, but now the animation starts and renders the first frame, but then progresses as if the halt sampling live has not been set, i.e. continues to render without saving any further frames, and displays the status as shown in the image above. I've tried this with the latest version 2.0.33 (on MacOS 10.14.6).
