Not sure if it is fixable or doable, but it is somehow annoying so here it goes.

First of all, I never use the installer, instead i keep all the old chaotica versions. The reasons for this are that there were several compatibility breaks, and other differences, which means old parameters may not render at all or render differently in newer versions.

But then, there is some sort of "Interactions" between different chaoticas. If a plugin fails in one, it fails in all. If the world editor breaks in one, it breaks in all.
I wonder if this can be changed somehow.

We use the registry on Windows, which is system-wide.
So information about the layout and position of widgets will be shared between the chaotica versions, because it is stored in the registry.
What about the world editor is broken?

Wait, shouldn't preferences be split across major versions? Registry on Windows and Library/Preferences on macOS. There are a lot of reasons to run both versions side by side, especially with the big shift in variation implementations and plugin support.

Opening old work for revisions, prints/renders, etc, is a super common use case...

Actually I think the preferences are split across major versions currently. That is, Chaotica 2 has different stored preferences than Chaotica 1.x.
