Hi, I have free version and when I set stoping SL to 10, it doesn't render animation.
Batch is checked.
1)What does this Stopping SL mean ? Does it lower render quality ?

2? How to make transparent background as in Apo?

Here, a tutorial how to render animations: http://tatasz.deviantart.com/journal/Ch ... -485955963

Make sure you:
1. Set the output directory
2. Set the stopping SL value appropriate for the render
3. Checked batch and stopping SL
4. make sure you are starting at the right frame

Your questions:
1. Stopping SL means the SL at which Chaotica will stop rendering a frame: once your render reach the SL value you set, it will save it and proceed to the next one.
As a sidenote, the SL value you set seems quite high - try rendering a single frame and whatching at which SL it starts looking good. You can usually do with something like 8 or even less with AA 2 and no ultraquality. Also, consider using the smooth mode.

2. To save transparent, tick "Save alpha" (under the resolution).

Ah, thanks. It rendered last frame and not the beggining. I had to set SL to 3. I have old dual core CPU. Does CPU power
affect which SL number I'm going to use?

I'm using animation for college project.
Thank you again.

No, The CPU power only affects the render speed.
SL 3 sounds incredibly low - i really worry the image quality will be too bad. Keep in mind that noisy images are not compression friendly, so you may end up with a few GB file - or an awful compression.

I lowered resolution so that I got 400 - 500 kb per image. Then I scale it and manipulate it in GIMP to look something OK but it doesn't look professional.

Sounds like messed up, indeed.
I really recommend the following workflow:
render (SL 7-9, AA2)
you can use VirtualDub (free) to make an AVI out of your frames
then use ffmpeg for example (also free) to compress it to some acceptable size.

A compressed fractal animation - HD, length 2 minutes - can be as big as 200-700 MB easy.
