Chaotica Christmas Sale 2014

If you have a friend or family member doing graphic design or animation, a Chaotica Studio licence would nicely complement their set of content creation tools for the new year. Chaotica 1.5.3 brings some great improvements, including native support for the popular Apophysis Crackle transform, faster animation previews and more flexible randomisation for easily creating animations from still fractals.

Chaotica also gets a little help recently from a third-party tool, ChaosHelper, with many pre-made palettes and even a simplified palette editor!

For more information on the other Chaotica 1.5 features, please see the release page.

Native Crackle Transform

One of the most frequently requested transforms for Apophysis compatibility is Crackle by Neil Slater.

It's a fairly complex transform built on Voronoi cells, useful for creating textures. Usually only supported via a large and slow Apophysis DLL plugin, Crackle is now fully native in Chaotica, re-coded to be more accurate and work with multi-threading.

This animation by Chiara Biancheri and Tatyana Zabanova is a great example of its use, where it creates the wispy effect.

Improved Animation Editing

The randomised weights and shader settings are now keyframed, making it extremely easy to produce background animations for presentations or videos - simply move the timeline as you search for nice randomised variations of your base fractal!

Realtime animation previews render much faster than before, and numerous bugs relating to randomisation and the parameter browser have been fixed.

More Power with ChaosHelper

Besides making amazing fractal art, Michel Mastriani has created a great complement to Chaotica called ChaosHelper, which simplifies some tasks (such as palette editing) and provides helpful shortcuts for adding and removing Apophysis final transforms.

A slew of great palettes is built in, courtesy of many talented artists from deviantArt, allowing you to easily inject awesome colours into your works!
